From the 1941–1948 Chrysler Shop Manual

Covers the L-head six-cylinder and eight-cylinder engines, with sectional views of both. It begins with the minor tune-up, performance inspection and major tune-up. Overhaul pages cover fitting aluminum and light cast iron pistons with a spring scale, semi-finished pistons and the rotor oil pump with its clearance checks. The floating oil strainer is also covered, along with oil pressure relief valves (color-coded springs on sixes, adjustable on eights), by-pass and full-flow oil filters, and crankcase ventilation.
