General Lubrication

From the 1941–1942 Pontiac Shop Manual

Lubrication of the whole car. It covers the SAE engine oil chart and break-in oil, when to change engine oil, and service for the distributor, the transmission (SAE 80 extreme pressure lubricant) and the rear axle (SAE 90 hypoid lubricant). It also covers the steering gear, lubricating the rear springs with tool J-595, refilling shock absorbers, the carburetor and oil-bath air cleaners, the crankcase ventilator, brake fluid, universal joints, chassis and body lubrication, and lubricant specifications.
