The section opens with gasoline: volatility, vapor pressure and vapor lock, gum and octane rating. It then covers the carburetor heat deflector and the automatic heat control valve. Carburetor service covers the single-barrel model 494-S on the Six and the dual carburetors on the Eight, including the anti-percolator, metering rod, idle adjustment with a vacuum gauge, throttle linkage and the throttle cracker. It also covers disassembly and reassembly, the accelerator pump and unloader, the fuel pump and the AC oil-bath air cleaner.
