Pontiac's shop manual for its 1941 and 1942 cars, publication PS-4204, dated September 1941. It covers the 1941 Custom, DeLuxe and Streamliner Torpedo and the 1942 Torpedo and Streamliner, with six- and eight-cylinder L-head engines on 119- and 122-inch wheelbases. The text applies to both years unless it says otherwise. The sections follow the General Motors parts grouping, from Section 0 lubrication to Section 14 accessories. Each section gives a general description, repair operations and specifications, and ends with a page for entries from Pontiac's Service News bulletins. The page numbers printed after page 284 run one ahead of the PDF page numbers.

Introduction and Performance Data

The title page has the section index, a list of 1941 and 1942 model numbers with wheelbases, and the starting serial numbers for the Pontiac, Linden and South Gate plants. Next come the Pontiac Service Craftsman program, the Service Integrity Code, notes on the new-car, 1000-mile and 2000-mile inspections, and the points to explain to new owners. The section ends with performance data: fuel economy curves, brake horsepower curves for the Six and Eight, and speed-to-rpm tables for the 4.1 and 4.3 axle ratios.
