From the 1951 Cadillac Shop Manual Supplement

Opens the Hydra-Matic section with its contents list and a description of the 1951 changes: a cone-type reverse unit that lets the car be rocked, a reverse booster plug raising line pressure to about 180 psi, new front servo exhaust and reverse check valves, and a parking bracket with reverse and parking blocker pistons. Diagnosis follows: shop and road tests for slippage, the Cadillac Hydra-Matic diagnosis guide, a reverse unit diagnosis chart and air checks of each oil circuit.
