From the 1942 Buick Shop Manual

Buick frames for all series use high carbon pressed steel channel side rails, a box-type front cross member, two diagonal center cross members and rear cross members behind the kick-up. The section explains the shipping hold-down holes, convertible frames, how to find the frame center line, checking frame alignment and dimensions with the body and engine load removed, gravel deflectors and license brackets, bumpers, and frame specifications.
