This is the factory owner's manual for the 1959 DeSoto, titled "How to drive and care for your 1959 DeSoto." It covers the Firedome (MS2) and Fireflite (MS3) with the 383 cubic inch V-8, the twin four-barrel Adventurer engine, and the two-door, four-door, Sportsman, convertible coupe and station wagon bodies. It was issued by the MoPar Division of Chrysler Corporation. No publication number appears in the book.
The manual explains the dash controls and push-button TorqueFlite drive selector (N, R, D, 1 and 2), towing and push starting, Level-cruise rear air suspension, Constant Control power steering, power brakes and the Sure-Grip differential. It also covers headlights with the automatic beam changer, Auto-temp and Instant Comfort heaters, the 4-season air conditioner, Station-seeker and Touch-Tuner radios, convertible top operation, wheel changing, tire pressures and rotation, a mileage service chart, oil and anti-freeze recommendations, and capacities, fuses, spark plugs and firing order. Owners and restorers will find it useful for original operating procedures and service intervals.
