The 1968 Chevrolet Truck Chassis Overhaul Manual (ST 134 68) covers the disassembly and assembly of major components on Chevrolet Series 10 through 60 trucks. Maintenance, adjustments, minor service and removal and installation are left to the companion 1968 Truck Chassis Service Manual. The book follows GM's section numbering: air conditioning compressor, 4-wheel-drive front axle differential, rear axle differential carriers, power brake cylinders, engine, water pump, carburetors, starting motor and Delcotron, clutches, transmissions and transfer case, and steering. Each section opens with its own contents or index and ends with special tools, and specifications for all components are collected at the back.

Air Conditioning Compressor

Bench overhaul of the six-cylinder axial air-conditioning compressor. Minor repair procedures deal with the shaft seal and seat and the clutch parts at the front of the unit; major repair procedures take the compressor apart through the rear head, covering the pressure relief valve, rear head, oil pump and valve assemblies and the main internal mechanism, followed by leak testing the rebuilt compressor and a page of special tools.
