The Hotchkiss-drive rear axle with hypoid ring gear and pinion, semi-floating axle shafts and semi-elliptic springs. It covers axle ratios for Hydra-Matic and Synchro-Mesh cars, pinion oil seal and axle shaft bearing replacement, differential removal and major repair (side bearing preload, backlash, red lead tooth contact patterns and pinion position), propeller shaft service, and rear spring, shackle and shock absorber replacement.
