"Pressure Solves the Problem" is Number 2 in the 1954 L-M Registered Mechanics Service Training series from Lincoln-Mercury. It teaches dealer mechanics how to diagnose the Hydra-Matic four-speed automatic transmission in Lincoln cars, centered on the 1954 Lincoln, with oil passage charts for the L-49 through L-54 transmissions.

The booklet is a set of chart pages for a training meeting. It covers preparing for a road test (hot and cold idle speed and idle mixture settings), checking full-throttle upshift points, forced downshifts, roughness and slippage, and recording results on the Hydra-Matic Diagnosis Guide. It stresses throttle linkage adjustment and outer throttle lever alignment, shows the oil pressure test (90-98 psi) and the pressure regulator and front pump checks, and explains how the front and rear planetary units, bands and clutches give the four forward speeds and reverse. Later pages show air pressure checks of the governor, front and rear clutches, servos, compensator passages and reverse unit without removing the transmission. A ten-question true-or-false quiz closes the book. It suits mechanics and restorers of early-1950s Lincolns.
