This Holley Carburetor Company service manual, Form No. H-466 dated September 1955, covers the Model 885-JJG series dual concentric downdraft carburetor built for heavy-duty work. White Motor trucks used it on engine models 260A, 280A, 360A, 370A and 390A. Each carburetor carries the built-in Holley Centri-Vac vacuum-operated engine speed governor.
The manual first explains the four major subassemblies (main body cover, main body, air horn and throttle body) and how each system works: fuel inlet, main metering, idle, power enrichment (economizer), accelerating pump, choke and governor, with cutaway diagrams. Photo-illustrated overhaul steps follow, covering disassembly with parts lists, cleaning and inspection, rebuilding, float gaging, governor diaphragm stretching with the MC-141 gage, and the Holley and Snap-On special tool numbers. It closes with installation, idle adjustment, service hints and a troubleshooting chart that runs from hard starting to no governor action. White truck owners, restorers and mechanics rebuilding these carburetors will find it useful. Pages 25–26 repeat pages 23–24 of the scan.
