This is Carter Carburetor Corporation's YF Service Procedure, Form 3526, dated December 1949. Carter, then a division of ACF Industries in St. Louis, issued it as a step-by-step guide to overhauling the YF single-barrel downdraft carburetor. The sheet does not name specific vehicles.
Forty-one numbered steps, each with a photo or exploded drawing, take the carburetor apart: air horn and bowl cover, diaphragm-type accelerator pump and metering rod assembly, pump check disc, intake strainer, metering rod jet, low speed jet, body flange, throttle shaft and seals, float, needle and seat, and choke valve and shaft. Parts are then grouped by circuit (float, low speed, high speed, pump and choke), with cleaning cautions for the diaphragm and seals. The reassembly steps cover throttle valve positioning, setting float level from the machined surface, the metering rod adjustment by bending the arm lip, and fitting the fast idle connector rod. It suits owners, restorers and mechanics rebuilding a YF carburetor.
