This is the 1953 Ford Owner's Manual, issued by Ford Division of Ford Motor Company in the company's 50th-anniversary year. It covers the 1953 Ford passenger cars, including Mainline and Customline Tudor, Fordor and Coupe models, the Victoria, the Sunliner convertible, and the Ranch Wagon, Country Sedan and Country Squire station wagons, with either the 239.4 cu. in. V-8 or the 215.3 cu. in. overhead-valve six.
The manual walks through break-in, seat adjustment, the ignition and starter switch, radio push-button setting, the Magic Air heater, wipers and windshield washer, door and luggage locks, and raising or lowering the Sunliner top. It explains Overdrive and Fordomatic operation, kick-down, driving in snow, mud and mountains, changing a tire, pushing to start and towing, and folding the station wagon seats. The maintenance section gives the 300- and 1000-mile services, day-to-day care, chrome and upholstery cleaning, and a mileage-based lubrication guide. A final page lists fuses, engine specifications, capacities, shipping weights, tire pressures, bulbs and oil classifications. Owners and restorers of 1953 Fords will find it useful.
