The 1979 Unit Repair (Overhaul) Manual covers disassembly and assembly of major components for the 1979 Chevrolet, Malibu, Monte Carlo, Nova, Camaro and Chevrolet light duty trucks of the 10–30 Series. Air Conditioning Compressor Overhaul

Bench and on-car overhaul of the A-6 axial compressor and the R-4 radial compressor. Minor repairs that can be done without purging the system cover the clutch plate and hub, pulley and bearing, and clutch coil and housing; major repairs cover the shaft seal, seal leak detection, pressure relief valve or pressure switch and the internal mechanism. Removal and installation and C.C.O.T. charging are referred to the service manual's air-conditioning section.
