1973 AMC Carter YF Carburetor

These pages come from the fuel, carburetion and exhaust section of the 1973 AMC technical service manual. They cover the Carter Model YF one-venturi carburetor fitted to the 232 and 258 cubic inch six-cylinder engines, with manual and automatic transmission codes 6299S, 6300S, 6400S, 6401S, 6421S and 6422S. The last page begins the Model 2100 two-venturi carburetor.

The copy starts with fuel pump tests for volume, vacuum and pressure, then describes the YF's five circuits: float, idle, main metering, pump and choke. It continues with disassembly and assembly, an exploded parts view with 65 numbered items, and service adjustments for float level, float drop, metering rod, initial choke clearance, unloader, automatic choke, dashpot and fast idle speed.
