Turbo Hydra-Matic 400

From the 1969 Chevrolet Truck Chassis Overhaul Manual, Series 10–60

Bench overhaul of the Turbo Hydra-Matic 400, followed by special tools for the whole clutch and transmission section. Disassembly removes the modulator, governor, pan, strainer and intake pipe, control valve, solenoid connector, servos with band apply pin selection, extension housing, oil pump and internal parts, with front and rear unit end play checks. Unit service covers the servos, control valve, oil pump, forward and direct clutches, intermediate sprag, center support, reaction carrier, output carrier pinions, bands, case and converter, then assembly. Tool illustrations cover clutches, manual, Spicer and Clark transmissions, Powerglide, THM 350 and THM 400.
