Chevrolet Motor Division of General Motors issued this Advance Body Service Information for dealers' service men working on the new Fisher Bodies of the 1949 Chevrolet passenger cars. Its introduction explains that it was meant to cover minor repairs and adjustments until a complete Body Service Manual was printed. No publication number appears on the title page.

The booklet gives step-by-step removal and installation procedures for the curved windshield glass and the back glass, including the string method for pulling the rubber channel over the pinchweld, along with the outside door handle and the new door lock with its striker and latch combined in one unit. Other topics include rear door lock free-wheeling adjustment, the door lock striker, arm rests, the friction-type door ventilator, front door butt hinges and their sealing, front and rear door adjustments, the new door check link, the adjustable sill plate, the zig-zag spring front seat, reveal and lower mouldings, headlining installation with tool J-2772, and rear compartment lid adjustment. It closes with body construction illustrations of the Coach, Four-Door Sedan, Four-Door Dynamic Coupe and Convertible. Restorers and body shops will find it useful when working on the 1949 Chevrolet body.
