Starting System and Generator

From the 1934 Buick Series 50 60 90 Shop Manual

The Delco-Remy electrical system begins with the Buick starter control, which cranks the engine when the accelerator pedal or hand throttle is pressed. Diagrams show the circuits before and after the engine number change, followed by the solenoid relay calibration, starting motor test data, pinion travel and accelerator switch adjustment, and starting troubles. The generator part covers charging rate adjustment, the generator thermostat, special police generators and the cut-out relay.
