Pontiac Motor Division's shop manual S-5404 (January 1954) covers 1949–1954 Pontiac passenger cars: the Series 25 six and Series 27 eight Chieftain and Streamliner models and the 1954 Series 28 Star Chief. Material is based on the 1954 cars, with notes or separate procedures where earlier models differ. The book follows Pontiac's numbered sections from 00 General Information through 14 Accessories, each opening with its own contents list and closing with specifications, special tools and Service Craftsman News references, and ends with an index. Body service refers to the Fisher Body manuals, and Hydra-Matic work to the separate Hydra-Matic shop manual.
