Buick's shop manual for 1948 and 1949 Series 40, 50 and 70 cars: sedans, sedanets, convertibles and the Model 59 and 79 Estate Wagons. It is organized in thirteen numbered groups, from Lubricare and the straight-eight engine through fuel system, clutch and Syncro-Mesh transmission, rear axle, suspension, steering, brakes, frame, electrical, accessories, sheet metal and body, followed by an index. Where 1948 models and 1949 Series 50-70 differ, the text says so. Dynaflow Drive is covered in the separate 1948 Buick Dynaflow Transmission Service Manual (B.P.S. 1.30), and fuller body information is in the Fisher Body service manuals. Periodic Lubricare Instructions
Buick's Lubricare schedule, arranged by mileage and time: chassis and body every 1000 miles, chassis and body every 5000 and 10,000 miles, twice-yearly chassis items and the once-a-year Hydro-Lectric power system check. A lubrication chart shows every fitting with its lubricant code and interval, and a capacities table gives cooling system, crankcase, gas tank, rear axle, steering gear, Syncro-Mesh and Dynaflow figures by series.
