You and Your 1950 Mercury is the owner's manual published by the Mercury Division of Ford Motor Company, Detroit, for the 1950 Mercury. It covers the standard car, the convertible with its manually raised top, and the wood-paneled station wagon. The book is organized in three lettered sections with numbered paragraphs, and it carries no publication number on the pages that could be read.
Section A explains the instrument panel, ignition switch, starter button, directional signal lever, door and luggage compartment locks, and the three-speed gearshift. It also covers the optional Touch-O-Matic Overdrive, the Merco-Therm heating and ventilating system, the Mercury radio, rear seat speakers, spotlight, non-glare mirror and accessory groups. Section B is the service calendar: lubrication intervals, engine oil weights and capacity, cooling system flushing and anti-freeze, tire rotation and changing, Duo-Serve hydraulic brakes, the parking brake, and care of paint, chrome and upholstery. Section C describes the engine, fuel, cooling, electrical and suspension systems, with a fuse chart, bulb chart and specifications for the 6-volt battery, generator, clutch and brakes. Owners and restorers can use it for correct operating and maintenance details.
