This is the "Clutch & Fluid Drive" section (Section 5, book pages 118 to 129) taken from a larger repair manual for Chrysler-built cars. It covers the single-plate Borg and Beck clutches used across Chrysler, Plymouth, De Soto and Dodge models, the Auburn clutch fitted to some Plymouths, and the Fluid Drive coupling offered on Chrysler from 1939 to 1953 and on De Soto and Dodge from 1941 to 1953. The file carries no title page or publisher name.
The pages show a cross-section and exploded views of the 9 1/4 in. clutch and the 8 1/2 in. clutch used on Hy-Drive cars, then the three release adjustments: overcenter spring tension with gauges C-705 (1948 and earlier) and C-853 (after 1948), pedal height stop screws, and one inch of pedal free travel. Further procedures cover clutch removal and installation with an aligning tool, release bearing replacement, Fluid Drive unit removal, the 1100 rpm tachometer slippage test, and renewal of the bellows and sleeve type seals with wrench C-545. The last page opens the transmission section. Owners and mechanics working on these clutches will find it useful.
