This is the first edition of the owner's manual Chevrolet Motor Division of General Motors issued with the 1954 Chevrolet passenger car. It covers the Bel Air, "Two-Ten" and "One-Fifty" models, with notes for the Convertible and station wagons. No publication number is printed.
The book begins with numbered illustrations of the instrument panel: key starter, light control knob, T-handle parking brake, wiper and washer, vent knobs, ash tray, lighter, glove compartment, speedometer, heater controls, radio and clock. Interior features follow, including door hinges, ventipanes, sun visors, mirror and interior lighting. Operating pages explain the engine and Powerglide oil level rods, the pressure radiator cap and keys and locks. Driving sections describe the Powerglide quadrant (P-N-D-L-R) and the three-speed Synchro-Mesh shift pattern, plus push starting. Later pages cover the 500-mile break-in, body finish and chrome care, tire pressures and rotation, the Air Flow heater and defroster, API oil service types (ML, MM, MS, DG) and drain periods, and the manufacturer's 90-day/4,000-mile warranty. Several later pages, including specifications, have little readable text in this scan. Owners and restorers use it to check original controls and care advice.
