These pages come from two 1932 issues of the Ford Service Bulletin, published by Ford Motor Company for dealer mechanics: June 1932 and September-October 1932. They cover the downdraft carburetor fitted to the new Ford V-8 cars, a 1 1/4-inch unit with hinged air vanes over a central aspirating tube and an adjustable tapered metering pin.

The June bulletin explains the main metering unit and the auxiliary unit (power jet, accelerating pump and priming passage), starting with the dash choke control, maximum power and acceleration, idle speed setting, metering pin adjustment at the 300-mile inspection, the .020-inch feeler check of throttle plate position, and a checklist of non-carburetor faults. The September-October bulletin lists 1932 production changes by date (flat kicker bar, choke lever ratchet, larger accelerating pump piston, spring-loaded metering pin packing gland, new float valve, float bowl baffle), explains the date code stamped on the float bowl cover, and gives disassembly, cleaning and reassembly steps using the V-71 and V-72 special wrenches, with an exploded view keyed to Ford part numbers. Owners and restorers of early Ford V-8s will find it useful.
